In 2020, GPR technology revealed a hidden three-story structure beneath Somnath Temple. The L-shaped structure, dating back to the 11th century, features two temples (Shiva and Durga), a large hall, and a courtyard. Built in the Gujarat architectural style, its purpose remains unclear, possibly for protection or religious use. The discovery has sparked further archaeological research.
